Caliper started out in 2020 as a web design service for detailing businesses. We also built a CRM software at one point (we'll explain further below what we did with it), and after working with detailers across the entire US, the
demand for an advanced strategy become more and more of a requirement: SEO.
Eventually we took on SEO aggressively, for the sake of our clients and for the traffic on their websites.
Read our full story below.
We started out building websites for local detailing businesses. After a free website build for a good friend in the Tampa area, the potential was there to do this for many different detailing businesses.
Then we got our first client, a detailer in North Carolina. Little did we know, a new brand was being born at that moment.
At the same time, we started utilizing our software development skills to further help detailing businesses. This was a free CRM software to help them track sales, appointments, and more.
The web design services grew quickly, we started working with detailers in Alabama, Louisiana, California, New York, Texas, and South Carolina in the blink of an eye. At the same time, we noticed more competitors gearing themselves towards the booming detailing industry.
Our free CRM software was doing decent, growing users, and as we got more feedback, we started working on a version 2.
Later that year, a crash on the platform that had all the code to our CRM, both the live version and our version 2 which was 95% completed, was lost completely. Backups, code, content, everything was deleted after their platform went through a major overhaul.
We lost our entire CRM software, data and all. Leaving us to start from scratch, where we decided to discontinue our CRM software and just focus on website design services.
Our following grew past 1500 on Instagram, our clientele across the US grew more as we developed more websites, offered affordable template programs, and having a system in place for helping detailing businesses with their website.
By this point, we were putting out 4-5 websites a month for detailers across multiple states.
As our clientele grew, so did their demand for more website traffic. Some websites were ranking well, others were not. We took this seriously, especially when a client asked if we did SEO and we did not have any packages or plans available. We noticed them question our credibility in an online forum, which we saw comments like "stay away from that company". We simply just didn't know how important SEO was becoming, but that didn't mean it's not something we couldn't accomplish.
We developed and SEO Lite and SEO Max plans, making them available to all our website clients. This resulted in better rankings, more traffic, and more leads for the businesses who paid for our plans.
While we were building websites for detailers, our parent company, Gambetta Development, was also doing websites for a variety of other industries. This lead us to merge in 2024.
We did not put Caliper Auto away entirely, in fact we made a Detailing Package Generator that was free for use and available to anyone, with a message on our site about the merge, that way no one who got a webstie with us in the pas felt lost. We still offer support for those websites to this day.
After building, optimizing, and ranking dozens of websites for different businesses in the automotive industry (detailing, window tint, car wraps, and even mechanics), in mid 2025, we decided it was time to build our next software tool. One that takes everything we know about SEO and puts it right into a software tool that any automotive service business owner can utilize.
